Today’s Mass was offered for the intentions of our parents at home. I’ve attended Mass and also took part in the Sacraments of Confession and Communion. Must be a sea-dog.”Īt no time did I make a refund to Davey Jones on the food I ate, although at one time I did feel lousy. I’m wondering how long he is going to hang around. I don’t know where he came from, but he certainly feels lively and didn’t get seasick either. “Sometimes during the trip a small puppy dog wandered in. He writes of a few incidents that occur on the way to his new station. At the top of the letter he writes, “Somewhere in the Pacific”. For the most part, I am transcribing it in its entirety below. He writes a short letter home while aboard a troop transport ship.

Now this build has come to an end it is time to find the next project……….Keep watching-It’s gonna be a good one! In the rear with the gear! F4U-1 Corsair W.I.P. I hope you enjoy the finished model, for details all about the build you can learn more and see the step by step process in the previous Work In Progress posts: Here is my vision of a USMC F4U-1 Corsair somewhere in the Pacific during 1942……. My vision was to evoke memories of a war weary, beaten up Corsair sat on the sand between sorties and to pay tribute to the brave men who fought in the Pacific on Land, Sea and in the Air. The plaque was made by Andy at Amcadengraving. The figures are from Aerobonus and were a perfect accompaniment to this scene. They are made from old paint brushes, paper, wire and cotton thread. In addition, I scratch built the palm trees. I was so pleased that I wanted to present this model in the best way I could so I built a display plinth from scratch and added groundwork from Vajello. The result was more than I expected and better than I planned! I then went on a journey of discovery trying new painting and weathering processes. This build started with the 1/48 Hobbyboss F4U-1 Corsair which I modified to make it more accurate.

I have always wanted a beaten up, sun bleached F4U Corsair in my collection and now at long last I have one I can enjoy. It has been a long time in the making as evident with the amount of posts dedicated to this build, but good things come to those who wait! This model has been a true labour of love.
